The videos stream over a RTMPTE connection which means no firewalls should have to be configured for special ports to be opened. However, some institutions may block Flash video at the packet level. If this is the case, your network administrator will need to make an exception for our servers.
What functions do an Institution subscription have that a regular subscription does not?
Institution subscriptions provide 50 (or more if ordered) individual accounts. An administrator can track the usage of the accounts and assign playlists of videos to users. The tracking for each user includes: login and logout times and the amount of time spent watching each video. There are two types of Institution subscriptions. The standard type allows the administrator to assign up to 50 (or more if ordered) users. Username, Password, First Name, Last Name, Email and Notes are what the administrator has to assign. The second type of Institution subscription is IP restricted access. A list of IP addresses for your Institution must be provided to us. This means users will have to access the online video library from the Institution or the Institution's proxy if they have one. When a user visits the login page they will be prompted to enter their name so the administrator can still track usage. |
